Mike Clark - Co-founder & CEO

Mike Clark was introduced to Ed Moore in November 2000 and set about creating a business proposition to deliver Ed's appliance vision. He was formally appointed CEO in April 2001.

Mike has an extensive general management background. He has worked in many industries, in both small and large companies, with significant exposure to most business functions. He has worked chiefly in the areas of strategy, strategic marketing, financial control, organisational and operational design, and IT systems implementation.

Before working for ApplianSys, Mike was a freelance consultant for three years. He worked as a company doctor, turning round two UK businesses, and on a major restructuring project for Tarmac.

From 1994 until 1997, Mike worked for APV, the multi-national engineering business. After a short time in corporate strategy, he became Head of Business Development, first for EMEA and then Worldwide - leading a marketing function in 40 countries.

Mike completed an MBA at London Business School in 1994. This included a semester at the University of Texas, which he chose for its reputation as one of the world's best business schools for Entrepreneurship. While there, he won a business planning competition.

Prior to this he gained extensive consulting experience in a broad range of industries, beginning with operational process and systems development/implementation projects across a wide variety of medium-sized companies in the early '80s. Then, he worked for a year with EDS as a systems engineer, before moving on to major organisational consulting projects, including 3 years on a number of high-level restructuring projects for BP.
